Kari Nygard

Artist Animator & Filmmaker Kari Nygard makes work with film loops, direct animation and stills. She concentrates on the characteristics of analogue film formats and how they can express the ephemeral nature of personal memory; the idea of transitory moments and impermanence.


Her research interests are in contemporary cinematic forms through the transformation of analogue, archive film & photography.
Kari holds a BA (Hons) in Time-Based Media from UWE Bristol alongside studies in Film making, Culture Theory & Art History from University of Oslo & University of Stavanger, Norway. She currently lectures in Lens Based Media and Contextual Studies at UCW and has a background in film exhibition and curation. In her native Norway she worked as an art consultant for contemporary art galleries, she continues this practice and has for the past two decades delivered arts and cultural programmes in the UK, with considerable experience as an animation consultant for a variety of production companies and charities.
