David Cuthbert

David studied at the Central School of Art & Design in London where he graduated in Fine Art, Painting in 1973. He taught at St Martin’s School of Art in London for ten years before returning to the South West. He has been painting and exhibiting since he left college in 1974.

In his final year as a student at the Central School of Art & Design he worked one evening a week as a voluntary assistant teacher of life painting & drawing at the Workingman’s College in Camden and has been involved in adult education ever since.

​

From 1974-84 he worked on the evening class programme at St Martin’s School of Art in London.  He has also taught on many courses at ARCA colleges such as Missenden Abbey, Urchfont Manor, the Wye Valley Arts Centre and Dillington House.

​

David works in acrylic, watercolour and oil paint and has worked in pastel and written several books on art techniques. He is a member of the Bath Society of Artists, and the St Ives Society of Artists and has exhibited widely in the South West and London. He lives in Winscombe, and with his wife Ros, teaches painting and drawing at The Art Shed.
